Regional Queensland family fundraise following baby’s heartbreaking condition update

A Western Downs mother, who has been told there is no treatment for her daughter’s heart wrenching condition, has shared the family’s journey and how they are raising money to stay afloat during this difficult time.

It’s the words that would make any parent’s heart break.

Last month, Western Downs mother Keonie Bradshaw, along with partner Kody, were told there was no treatment available to help manage their five-month-old daughter’s closing heart ducts following complex heart conditions the baby had already endured since birth.

Now the family of four, which includes their eldest son Phillip, are raising funds via a GoFundMe campaign to help them stay afloat while they spend their last “precious” moments with daughter Charliegh-May.

“(Charliegh-May) was diagnosed with a complex heart condition at my 22-week scan,” Mrs Bradshaw stated on the page.

“At this scan we were told that there was a chance that she wouldn’t survive the pregnancy.

“From this point on, the pregnancy was a very difficult journey for us and I was in and out of hospital for the slightest thing, as we were so scared we had lost her.”

The mother said when Charliegh-May survived the birth, the family had forgotten “for a split second” about the complications.

“After the night in hospital we were transferred to Hummingbird House children’s hospice in Brisbane,” she said.

“We spent the first month of Charliegh-May’s life at Hummingbird House where we received support and she was closely monitored.”

The family spent four “precious” but “uncertain” months at their home until their baby’s condition began to deteriorate, and they discovered her heart ducts were closing and there were no other treatment options available.

Since the tragic discovery, the family has been spending their time back at Hummingbird House children’s hospice as Charliegh-May receives close care.

“It’s a heartbreaking time watching our baby girl deteriorate, knowing our time with her is short and knowing there will come a time when we have to say goodbye,” Mrs Bradshaw said.

“We are reaching out to ask if you are able to assist our family, to raise money so we can continue to pay our rent, essential bills and funeral costs when that time comes.”

At this present time, the GoFundMe page has raised a total of $2470 with a target of $6500.
