Fallen police constables Matthew Arnold and Rachel McCrow will be honoured this Friday at Dalby during the 36th annual Police Remembrance Day.
The Tara officers were tragically killed in December 2022 during a terror attack where three killers stage an ambush at a rural property in Wieambilla.
Their names were added to the National Police Memorial Wall in Canberra and two years on the community continues to mourn the loss of the young officers.
Held annually in September, Police Remembrance Day honours officers across Australia who lost their lives in the line of duty including the 45 police men and woman in Queensland who have died since 1950.
Senior Constable Dan O’Hara said it was important to remember those who had lost their lives protecting and serving their community.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to all police who have lost their lives in the line of duty,” he said.
“Western Downs Patrol Group will take the time to remember all fallen Police officers in particular Constable Rachel McCrow and Constable Matt Arnold tragically lost as a result of the Wieambilla incident on 12th of December 2022.
“The support given and offered by local citizens in the lead up to this event is greatly appreciated by all Police within our patrol group.”
This year the remembrance service will be held at St John’s Anglican Church Dalby commencing at 10am with a morning tea directly after the service with all police, families, friends and general public welcome.
In Toowoomba the service will be on Friday September 27 at 10am at St Patricks Cathedral
