A man has been lucky to avoid injury after his car was swept off the road by flood waters at Moonie.
The man’s car was swept off Green and Whites Rd at about 1pm Friday, with members of the public freeing him from his vehicle before emergency services arrived.
When ambulance crews arrived they assessed him at the scene and no treatment was required.
The rescue was the second along the same stretch of road on the same day.
A man in his 60s had to be rescued from a tree in floodwaters in the early hours of Friday morning, as the State Emergency Service responding to 18 call-outs across the state overnight.
Rural Fire Service and Queensland Fire Department crews worked for hours to rescue the man after he became isolated on a tree branch in floodwater on Green and Whites Rd.
An RFS volunteer initially spotted him about 1.22am, but it took more than two hours to rescue him, with crews finally getting him down about 4am.
The flash flooding follows heavy storms which have thrashed the Western Downs for the past week with Tara reordering overnight rainfall of 54mm On Wednesday, while Dalby recorded 40mm and Condamine 49mm.
Heavy rainfall has caused a flooding across the South West Queensland with more than 150mm recorded in parts of the state.
All crews have now left the scene.
Emergency crews have urged people not to drive through flood waters.
