Dalby’s boxers have decimated their opponents at last weekend’s South East Queensland titles in Maroochydore.

Dalby PCYC went three for three with two of the matches being stopped before the final bell and the third being won by unanimous decision.

Twelve-year-old Beau Von-Pein was up first, putting on a strong performance to start the day.

“It was a well matched fight, I thought it could’ve went the three rounds but it didn't because he went in there as usual and used his ability and his strength,” coach Andrew Alderton said.

“He was doing great two phased combos and ended up stopping his opponent half way through the second round.”

In her first fight for the club after moving from Ipswich, Monique Barker made quick work of her opponent with her furious style ending the fight in the first round.

“She went in and fought the Australian silver medallist having to step up in age and experience to get the fight,” he said.

“I asked her to chill out a little bit but the Tasmanian devil didn't hold back and she smashed her, put an eight count on her and then came at her again flat out and they stopped it in the first round.

“It was her first fight for us so we were shaking out some of the cobwebs, we are working on her footwork, shorter sharper punches, changing her angles, a bit of head movement but she is going really good now.

“She is going to go to the Australian titles for sure.”

Judd Alderton add a South East Queensland title victory to his already impressive resume.

Last up was Judd Alderton who fresh off the heels of winning the Australian titles stepped up in age and weight to fight an experienced opponent.

“He did really well he got two standing out counts on him and they went all the way through the three rounds winning unanimously on points,” he said.

“He showed great footwork, good hands and it was a good test for him.

“He is strong and he knows how to punch using his hips and his feet well.”

Dalby Boxing PCYC are now preparing for the Golden Gloves Championships later this month with six fighters expected to compete.
