A man in his 30s has suffered spinal injuries after he lost control of his vehicle trying to avoid a kangaroo.

A man in his 30s has been rushed to Toowoomba Hospital with serious spinal injuries following a crash in Oakey.

Crews attended the scene on Pittsworth Rd Wednesday about 5.39am after reports that a single car had swerved off the road to avoid a kangaroo.

The man was assessed at the scene and rushed to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson described his injuries as “concerning”.

Crews worked quickly and the road was cleared in both directions.

Investigations surrounding the crash are ongoing.
