A JOLLY evening for the community unfolded on Tuesday afternoon
outside MyALL 107 on
Drayton St.
The Christmas tree - decorated with ornaments made by school children in the Western Downs region - lit up with fairy lights as
the sun dipped low in the sky.
In an event that proved to be just as much fun for grown ups as children, there were snags and donuts for peckish people of all ages, as well as elf stations for Santa's littlest helpers looking to create additional baubles for the tree.
Those looking to express their artistic flair, not only through the elf stations
but also through their personal style, were able to go wild with a bit of face-painting.
When the sun had set, Mayor Paul McVeigh lit the tree.
Mr McVeigh said the holiday period was a great chance for the community to get together.
"The tree lighting was a great afternoon and I had such a good time reading a Christmas story to the children yesterday,” he said.
