Annastacia Palaszczuk has insisted Queensland is reaching its COVID-19 vaccination targets after it was revealed the state had only administered 22 per cent of its supply.
It comes as the state hit a milestone of 50 days without any locally transmitted cases of COVID-19, with four cases detected in hotel quarantine in the past 24 hours.
The Premier said Queensland was not struggling to administer the jab, saying the government had always planned to “start off within our capability and to roll it out progressively.”
“It’s the advice coming from Dr Young and Dr Wakefield and we’re very happy with the roll out
and how we are reaching our targets,” she said.
The Courier-Mail yesterday revealed Queensland was lagging behind NSW - having delivered 2030 of the 9360 jabs received.

NSW has used 75 per cent of its doses.
Asked why the roll out wasn’t being undertaken faster, Ms Palaszczuk said Queensland needed to make sure it had the supply.
“and I think you’ve seen that the way we’ve actually rolled it out there haven’t been any issues,” she said.
“That’s what I like to see.”
It comes as the Premier said interstate residents should feel confident to book holidays in Queensland for the Easter break because there is currently no community transmission.
“And from what I see, people are out there enjoying (the) Queensland lifestyle and hopefully that will be the case for many months to come,” she said.
“But of course we still have to be on our guard because we have this South African strain, the South American strain and the UK strain so that’s why out hotel quarantine is really important and we are still in discussions with the Federal Government about that regional quarantine in Toowoomba.”
Queensland has now gone 50 days without any locally transmitted cases of COVID-19, with four cases detected in hotel quarantine in the past 24 hours.
All of those cases were acquired overseas, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced on Tuesday.
There are currently 14 active cases in the state, with 1335 total cases since the pandemic started.
A total of 2030 vaccines have been administered via Queensland’s six vaccine hubs, with Health Minister Yvette D’Ath saying the state was ahead of target.
“To every Queensland healthcare worker who made this possible – nurses, doctors, scientists and administration workers thank you,” Ms D’Ath said.
