A Sunshine Coast registered nurse and mum-of-three has been suspended from practising after she was busted with a collection of marijuana plants on her balcony and pleaded guilty to possession.

Rebecca Anne Moussalli, from Buderim, is prohibited from practising as a nurse, effective from June 13 for the duration of the suspension.

Details of her restricted working were revealed this week when the state’s Office of the Health Ombudsman announced on their website the registration action.

It comes 18 months after Moussalli appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court where she pleaded guilty to growing three plants and possessing 89g of dried cannabis.

In November 2022, she pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, one count of producing a dangerous drug, one count of possessing property used in connection with a drug offence and one count of possessing utensils.

No conviction was recorded.

The court heard Moussalli was a registered nurse at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

According to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Moussalli’s principal place of practice was Birtinya, the location of the SCUH.

She completed a Nursing degree at Charles Sturt University and a certificate IV in nursing at TAFE NSW in 2006.

“The decision will continue to have effect until the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal sets aside the decision or the OHO revokes the suspension,” the OHO announced on its website.
