THE Department of Transport and Main Roads is advising businesses, residents and motorists of a five-day period of construction at the Queensland Rail open level crossing on the Warrego Highway in Chinchilla.
The construction requires a full closure of the Warrego Highway at the site.
The Warrego Highway will be closed frommidnight on Friday, May 10, until 6pm Wednesday, May 15, to allow Queensland Rail and TMR to undertake upgrade works in preparation for the Chinchilla Open Level Crossing Upgrade and Colamba Street Signals project.
A detour will be put in place while the Warrego Highway is closed, with traffic diverted along Cemetery Rd, Chinchilla- Wondai Rd, Park St and Colamba St.
This detour follows an approved Type 1 Road Train route.
The construction will generally be carried out during the day, however some night works may be required.
Some light and noise impacts are expected near the site due to reversing lights and horns. Dust suppression will be used to minimise impacts on nearby residents.
Local traffic access will be maintained on the Warrego Highway up to the Queensland Rail crossing.
During the works, UHF channel 25 will be used, with the site supervisor available by phoning 0448 120 227.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works west of Wambo St.
The $19million project to upgrade safety at the open level rail crossing in Chinchilla is part of the 20Warrego Highway Upgrade projects being delivered between Toowoomba and west of Miles, with both the Queensland and Australian governments jointly delivering the $635million investment.
