A scaffolder who saved his car from getting smashed up during a Chinchilla street brawl has been forced to front the magistrate.

When chaos on a Chinchilla street in June, Craig Noel Shaw jumped in his car to move it out of the way of juveniles who were flingin debris.
The destructive youths had been arguing with Shaw’s mate after a stint a the local pub.
Police prosecutor Chris Hutchins said the scaffolder had been drinking at a local pub before the street fight and was over the middle alcohol limit when he moved his car from a driveway to a nature strip.
The court heard the 34-year-old single dad had absolutely no intention of driving on the road with a 0.121 BAC, and that his friend’s wife planned to drive him home.
Magistrate Kerri O’Callaghan said the case was unusual and unfortunate.
Shaw pleaded guilty to drink driving and was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for six months.
No conviction was recorded.
