Charleville mayor Shaun ’Zoro’ Radnedge thanks emergency services workers after Christmas storm

In the wake of a freak supercell storm on Christmas Day, Charleville’s mayor has extended a heartwarming message to those who helped the town in the wake of the damage.

Charleville mayor Shaun “Zoro” Radnedge has extended a heartwarming thank you to the Ergon energy team and local emergency services crews for their help cleaning up after a supercell storm swept across Queensland on Christmas Day.

An Ergon energy spokesman said that the storm caused outages to around 650 customers in the Charleville area. The Ergon team worked tirelessly to have the power restored to all the customers by 5.45pm the same afternoon.

Charleville was one of many towns hit by a supercell storm on Christmas Day, leaving 650 Ergon customers without power.

This was the second outage in as many weeks that Ergon customers in the area have experienced as a result of severe storms. Ergon reminded customers to be prepared for power outages as wild weather can cause extensive damage to the electricity network.

Mayor of Charleville, Shaun "Zoro" Radnedge extended thanks to Ergon energy and SES workers for their help restoring power and tidying up after the storms.

Mr Radnedge also thanked the local SES crews who helped clean up after the storm.

“We haven’t seen that sort of damage from a storm in a long time,” Mr Radnedge said.

“Those guys have been working tirelessly to clean up, I can’t praise [them] enough.”

The damage in Charleville was extensive, with many fallen trees damaging infrastructure, residences and vehicles.
