YOU might go on holiday to Byron Bay and buy yourself a t-shirt or a bit of home-made jewellery to remember your trip by.

Actor Chris Hemsworth will go home with the title deed to a multi-million-dollar property at Broken Head.

The star of Thor and The Avengers, who recently started a stint as Lennox Head's temporary thunder god, has just bought Broken Head's exclusive Kooeloah property for $7 million, the Property Observer website has reported.

And if that sounds a bit rich, it's less than half the $15m the property was unsuccessfully advertised for a couple of years ago.

An advertising video from 2011 posted on You Tube describes Kooeloah as "one of the last places on Earth where those who have it all come to get away from it all".

"Out here privacy prevails," narrator Michael Kollosche says. "But up here you can still rub shoulders with the who's who of international business, the arts, and entertainment."

The video boasts Kooeloah sits on an un-named road that makes it difficult to find, that it sits within its own private rainforest and has sweeping ocean views.

"This is where comfort calls home," the video says. "What it lacks, you probably don't want anyway."

The video doesn't spell out precisely what the home lacks, but given its location it's likely those "lacks" include a decent internet connection or mobile phone signal, or town water.

Although the video presents that last "lack" as a selling point.

"Here you can drink filtered rain water the rest of the world would probably pay hundreds of dollars for if it came in a fancy bottle," the video says.

Property Observer says the property has eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms spread over four buildings - a main Balinese-style residence and three villas connected by covered walkways with a lagoon pool and various lap pools.
