A small regional community could soon be home to a new tourist park if a development application gets the tick of approval from council.
A material change of use application was recently lodged with Central Highlands Regional Council for a tourist park to be built at Bluff, near Blackwater in Central Queensland.
Bluff Central Park Motel Pty Ltd is listed as the applicant for the proposed development.
According to the development application the tourist park would be located at 60 Main St in Bluff.
The proposal document says an application was originally lodged in about 2014 for a motel development but was refused by council at the time.
An appeal was lodged in the Planning Environment Court which was later withdrawn following negotiations in the process.
The proposed facility would be a campground which would provide short term accommodation for “self-contained recreational vehicles” and would also include cabins.
Preliminary plans for the facility show an aerial drawing of the park to include three cabins and six 6m by 6m powered camp sites.
There are also plans to include amenities such as kitchen facilities, two unisex showers and toilets.
The 16,886 sqm block currently has a single dwelling on the property, which will be maintained onsite and provide for on-site manager accommodation and facilities.
“The proposed campground facilities will be limited in scale on the site and will only permit occupation by caravans and RVs that are fully self-contained in terms of power, water and wastewater (a common set of facilities within many modern recreational vehicles),” the proposal document says.
“To this end, services are not provided on the site for these vehicles.
“The proposed cabins will offer short term accommodation for the travelling public in general. These cabins will be provided with power, water and wastewater (the latter by way of approved on-site treatment facilities).”
The tourist park isn’t the only development in the Central Highlands region to pique the interest of travellers.
An application was lodged with council in May for a major expansion to the existing Emerald Tourist Park on Roberts St which is proposed to include more camping sites, cabins and a future bar and restaurant.
Both applications are subject to council approval.
