An Emerald couple received the surprise of their life when they found out they had won more than $650,000 from a Saturday Gold Lotto draw.

The couple bought a ticket in Rockhampton on a weekend away for the division one winning entry nationally in draw 4313.

They were left shaking from the shock of finding out that they were $650,271.18 richer when the winners were announced, November 19.

Naturally the couple was flabbergasted when they were notified of their win.

“Are you serious?” was the husband’s initial response to the official from the Lott who called and gave him the life changing news.

“This is amazing. I can’t believe this is real,” he said.

“I’m standing in Brisbane airport waiting on our flight home and I can’t stop shaking.

“These things just don’t happen to me.

“We’ve been considering retirement for a long time so this is going to be an amazing boost for us.

“It also means we’ll be able to help our children which means the world to us.

“Thank you, I’m about to celebrate with a nice green tea.”

The couple was one of eight winners that night.

The other seven winners included one other in Queensland, two in Victoria, one in Tasmania, and three in New South Wales.

The winning 24-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Wandal Newsagency, 17 Wandal Road, Rockhampton.
