A Central Queensland resources company is offering grants to local community groups, clubs, schools and not-for-profit organisations.
But time is fast running out to submit applications for round two of Stanmore Resources 2022 Community Grant Program.
Up to $5000 can be accessed through the initiative for projects that help the region’s youth, care for the environment, offer opportunities for indigenous people, and provide public wellbeing and health.
The Moranbah Bowhunters and Field Archers was able to buy new 3D targets after it received funding from Stanmore Resources earlier this year during the first round.
Moranbah Bowhunters and Field Archers president Cory Bond said without the help from Stanmore Resources, the club wouldn’t have been able to provide a new game to members for the first time.
“There are all sorts of competitions in archery and 3D, which have their own set of rules and targets, and it’s something we haven’t previously had,” Mr Bond said.
“3D targets are much more challenging, so it’s fantastic to see our members have a go and compete against each other.
“The grants program has been a big help for us.
“It was especially hard to fundraise during the pandemic because we weren’t able to host any competitions, so they have been an excellent initiative for the local Moranbah community.”
Stanmore Resources chief executive officer Marcelo Matos was happy to see community clubs benefit from the grants the company offered.
“It’s fantastic to see community groups — like Moranbah Bowhunters and Field Archers — who often rely on the generosity of locals through fundraising, be in a position to fund their initiatives and events,” Mr Matos said.
“As a key operator in Central Queensland, we remain committed to giving back each year, and we encourage local community groups, clubs, schools and not-for-profit organisations to apply for these grants to help get their project off the ground.”
Online applications for round two community grants close on July 31, 2022.
Round two is open to previous recipients and applicants of the funding.
