A Clermont man has faced court after smashing a glass door at a pub with his fist in a fit of rage

Dylan Rose Stewart-Butcher pleaded guilty in Clermont Magistrates Court on July, 6, 2022 to one count of wilful damage.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Rachel Todd told the court the offence occurred at The Grand Hotel Clermont on June 12, 2022.

The court heard Stewart-Butcher attended the hotel, had several beers and attempted to speak to a woman he knew.

The woman declined to speak to Stewart-Butcher and complained to the pub’s manager about him.

Ms Todd told the court Stewart-Butcher was described by a staff as being a nuisance and he was asked to leave.

On his way out, Stewart-Butcher punched the glass exit door four or five times, causing it to fracture, before leaving the venue.

Stewart-Butcher was not injured in the incident and told police he just ‘lost his cool’.

He offered to pay The Grand Hotel the costs to repair the door.

Stewart-Butcher was fined $200 and ordered to pay $1437.70 to repair the door.

No conviction was recorded.
