Childhood home of Kylie and Dannii Minogue in Camberwell sells after auction
It had been leased to various tenants since about 1993.
Jellis Craig Boroondara director Campbell Ward did not respond to the Herald Sun’s request for comment on the sale, which took place in February.
But the property’s listing notes Cambridge St is an “Armadale treasure” famous for its heritage beauty.
The period-style white weatherboard counts a lace-fringed veranda, a sunny courtyard, high ceilings, Baltic pine floors, an elegant arched entrance hallway and open fireplaces with decorative mantels among its features.
It has also been updated with ducted heating, reverse-cycle heating and cooling, a video intercom and the garage has a remote-controlled door.
Minogue lives in a $25m penthouse at One Hyde Park in London, which is regarded as the world’s most expensive apartment building.
Her lodgings are a far cry from her childhood spent growing up in a four-bedroom home in Camberwell with her sister, fellow singer Dannii Minogue, their parents and their brother, Brendan.
Her childhood home at 46 St Johns Ave sold for $1.74m in 2016.
After finding success on Neighbours, the savvy singer-turned-property investor started building her property portfolio — starting with the Cambridge St property.
She also forked out $2.43m to buy her parents a house on Monomeath Ave in the posh suburb of Canterbury in 2002.
Minogue owns a number of properties in London and previously owned one on French Island in Western Port Bay.
Dannii Minogue also made some property moves this year, having snapped up a stylish Hawthorn East home for $3.52m.
The purchase followed the sale of her Tooronga Rd home in the same suburb for $2.56m in June 2019.
The pop star, TV judge and fashion designer was photographed carrying items inside the four-bedroom house in June.
