An earthquake has struck the North Burnett early this morning, with a magnitude rating of 2.5.
Starting at 5am on Friday, June 27, the earthquake’s epicentre was located 92km west of Bundaberg.
The earthquake’s depth was 1.5km, comfortably placing it in the shallow range, while its magnitude of 2.5 generally means they are not felt, but can be recorded by a richter scale.
Surrounding regions have faced more serious earthquakes in the past, with Gladstone experiencing a 6.3 magnitude rating in 1918, a rating that can cause damage to structures, while Gayndah in the South Burnett also experienced a 6.1 earthquake in 1935.
