A cat and her five kittens were found “dehydrated and stressed” in a box with three tiny air holes, dumped behind office buildings in Central Queensland.
Gladstone Animal Rescue Group Inc took to Facebook, writing it was “one of the lowest acts” anyone could commit.
“This is dedicated to the low life imbecile who thinks it is perfectly okay to shove a mother cat and her five babies in a tiny little box all taped up with three tiny hole for air and no food, no water,” the post read.
The cat and her kittens were dumped behind offices on Goondoon St, and it’s unclear how long they were left there before they were found.
“We would like to inform you that Mummy and babies were not found for quite some time and they were dehydrated and very stressed.
“Given we have three rescue groups and a pound facility who would have taken these babies we think this would have to be one of the lowest acts anyone could stoop so low.
“Luckily they were found before any real harm was done.”
Gladstone Animal Rescue Group has taken the cat and kittens in, and they are now “clean, safe, nourished and getting tender loving care”.
“For anyone who is thinking of just dumping their animals off at the pound after hours or near any council building … this is not acceptable behaviour.”
