More than 130 of Queensland’s top karate athletes have gathered in Childers for the TSKF 2024 Queensland Karate Titles to be held July 4-7.

Hosted by the Traditional Shotokan Karate-do Federation of Childers, this four-day event features intensive training with Japanese-based TSKF assistant chief instructor Nemoto Sensei.

Childers will also host the TSKF/ISKF national team as they prepare for the ISKF London World Cup in September.

TSKF Childers president John Russo highlighted the honour of hosting the event and its benefits for the local community, including economic boosts from the influx of visitors.

The event includes training seminars on Thursday and Friday, followed by competitions on Saturday with around 135 competitors from across Queensland and other Australian cities. Russo emphasized the opportunity for local members to train with top karateka and the club’s growth, including a new sub-branch at Woodgate Beach.

“Everyone is welcome to come and give it a go,” Mr Russo said.
