Police were forced to locked down part of a Sarina neighbourhood while they responded to a man making threats in a mental health-related incident on Friday.

Emergency services were called about 5.19pm to a Brooks Road address on May 16 after a man started making threats.

Police made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA), establishing an exclusion zone encompassing Brooks Road, Place Avenue, Holmes Avenue and Petersen Street while they responded to the incident.

Residents within the exclusion zone were asked to stay indoors and members of the public to avoid the area, to allow police to continue safely.

Police at the time said they believed there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The exclusion zone was revoked about 7.30pm.
