Named: 21 people charged after series of Bundaberg drug raids

The names of three young men who are among the 21 facing charges including trafficking, supplying and possession have been revealed, following a three-day major drug operation.

The names of three of the 21 people arrested and charged with 87 offences from the three-day drug operation across the Bundaberg region have been revealed.

Detectives from the Bundaberg Criminal Investigation Branch and officers from the State and Crime and Intelligence Command joined forces to carry it out from July 5-7, 2023.

As a result of the operation, 21 people were charged with offences primarily related to trafficking, supply and possession of dangerous drugs.

Trent David Lionel Mcrae, a 20 year-old man from Avoca, was charged with two counts of trafficking, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of a crime and possessing utensils.

Mr Mcrae appeared before Bundaberg Magistrates Court on July 10 for a mention hearing, with his next appearance listed for August 22.

Damien Joel McCarron, a 22-year-old Bundaberg North man, was charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs each exceeding Schedule 3, seven counts of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property acquired from a drug offence, possessing utensils and a further count of possessing explosives (fireworks).

Mr McCarron is listed to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on September 11.

Michael John Jensen, a 33-year-old man from Thabeban, has been charged with two counts of trafficking, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property suspected of being proceeds of a crime, and possessing utensils.

Mr Jensen appeared before Bundaberg Magistrates Court on July 14 for a mention hearing, with his next appearance listed for August 22.

Bundaberg police said in a statement on July 14, “the operation specifically targeted offenders engaged in the use, supply, and distribution of ice and cannabis within the Bundaberg area”.
