Police arrest man in Brisbane five years after double fatal South Kolan crash
A man has been charged by police five years after a horrific crash in the Bundaberg region in which a mother and her 12-year-old daughter, who was on her way to school, were killed.

A man has been arrested in Brisbane and is expected to face the courts years after a fatal crash which killed two people including a 12 year old girl.
The crash, which occurred on Gin Gin Road in South Kolan almost five years ago to the day on November 5, 2018 occurred when the driver of a small rigid truck veered onto the opposite side of the road, colliding with a Holden Commodore travelling in the opposite direction.
Of the three people in the car, a mother and her two children who were reported at the time to be on their way to the school drop off, only one survived.
The 46-year-old mother was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 12-year-old was transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital however passed away later that day due to injuries sustained.
A 15-year-old boy, who was in the passenger seat of the car, received minor injuries.
The driver of the truck was not physically injured in the crash.
On November 29, 2023, Brisbane police arrested the 40-year old driver when he flew into Brisbane, and he was charged with one count of driving without due care and attention.
The man appeared before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 30 and was given court bail to appear on December 13, 2023.
