Pageant of Lights to transform Bundaberg CBD with parade and markets
Bundaberg's main street transforms into a Christmas wonderland on Thursday night as the annual Pageant of Lights parade brings festive floats, market stalls and dazzling lights to the CBD.
Bundaberg’s main street will transform into a Christmas spectacle on Thursday night with the annual Pageant of Lights parade.
Bourbong St becomes an ocean of Christmas joy and colour each year when the “silly season” is kicked off with family-friendly entertainment, market stalls, a parade of Christmas floats and the ceremonial turning on of the Christmas lights.
Here is everything you need to know before Thursday night:
The event is free and family-friendly, but council advises it would be best to leave your four-legged friends at home because of the large crowds and noise.
Between 5.30pm and 9pm locals are invited to browse potential stocking-stuffers at the Twilight Artisan Market, indulge in some festive food and alcohol-free drinks, and enjoy performances across two stages from familiar faces such as Amy Alice or the Encore Dance Studio.
When the clock strikes 7pm, dazzling lights will illuminate and transform the CBD into a Christmas dreamscape, just in time for the joyful parade of floats to arrive.
Float winners will be announced at Buss Park immediately after the parade, with winners receiving a Christmas hamper.
Rudolph and his reindeers are saving their strength for their big night of travels in a few weeks and will not be able to help get you home, so be sure not to park amongst the festivities, or you will be asking Santa for a taxi ride after the parade.
Between 3-10.30pm roads between Bourbong St from Maryborough St to Toonburra St, Barolin St from Quay St to Woongarra St, and Tantitha St from Choice Liquor to Woongarra St parking will be closed with alternative parking offered throughout the CBD.
