SAFE Haven stars Julianne Hough (from the musical comedy Rock of Ages) and Josh Duhamel (from the epic action trilogy Transformers) and is directed by Lasse Hallstrom (who has directed Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried in Dear John).

Romance movies are not my thing. I was dreading going to see this movie and I was happy I saw it.

I wasn't fussed over 2012's romantic movies (such as The Vow, The Lucky One and the finale for Twilight).

But could 2013 be our year for romance?

Safe Haven's acting was actually good.

I will admit that I thought that Hough and Duhamel had good chemistry.

The start of the film was way overacted, so overacted that it got annoying.

David Lyons (from the not-so-good Eat Pray Love) was good as the police officer and played an important role in the movie.

The acting in the second and third act in the film is believable.

The director did a good job with building relationships.

But I will say that at the start of the film the drama was too sudden and didn't work... unfortunately.

The script isn't boring, it's just completely unbelievable.

You couldn't help think that the characters just should've done that, or should've done this... It kind of got frustrating at times.

The character development was long, but the characters eventually got to where they needed to be.

There are about three twists in this movie when it only really needed one.

This is a good date movie, but girls, good luck on getting guys to go.
