A local business could be expanding their operation near Rosedale Road if its development application is approved by the council.
A material change of use application for high impact industry, a packing shed, has been lodged with the Bundaberg Regional Council.
The documents list L & S Farms as the applicant for the application.
According to the application summary, the facility is used to sort and pack tomatoes.
“The business is expanding its operations to accommodate an increasing demand and will be building an extension to the existing farm shed to include a sorting, packing and finished goods storage,” the document states.
The proposal outlines how the existing facility includes farm sheds associated with cropping activities.
“The expansion will also create many new direct and indirect jobs for the region,” the document reads.
“The project would provide significant opportunities to continue to build strong local grower supply arrangements.”
Amid the characteristics listed for the proposed extensions to the facility are operating hours from 5am – 5pm, Monday through Sunday.
The list further states there could be approximately 12 full-time staff.
This application is awaiting a decision from the Bundaberg Regional Council.
