Marquis Macadamias crowned winner of top Australian export award
A grower-owned macadamia business has cracked global markets to claim Australia's top export award, processing 28,000 tonnes annually across 45 countries worldwide.
Marquis Macadamias has cracked open global success and been rewarded with the 2025 Australian Export Award for Agribusiness, Food and Beverages.
Operating since 1983, with sites in Bundaberg and Lismore, Marquis Macadamias delivers premium kernel, nut-in-shell, oil and paste to a diverse range of countries across Asia, Europe and the United States.
Its customer base, including international food companies and retailers, have invested over 40 years of effort to position macadamias as the world’s premium nut.
The company was created to give farmers more control over the value chain, a statement released by the company revealed on Monday.
“Now, they have become one of the world’s largest grower-owned macadamia businesses, processing up to 28,000 tonnes of nut-in-shell annually.
“Australia is home to the world’s leading macadamia growers and processing expertise,” said company CEO Ben Adams.
“Macadamias are one of the few native Australian foods successfully commercialised and exported globally – a true national success story.
“We want our legacy to be a viable and sustainable Australian macadamia industry that delivers premium prices for our growers and premium products for our customers – ensuring long-term prosperity for everyone involved.”
Marquis Macadamias recently played a key role in the inaugural Australian Macadamia Festival in Mumbai, a two-week culinary event, allowing the business to crack into the Indian market and complement its already growing list of exporters across Asia, Europe and the United States.
“India has a large and diverse population with a strong cultural history of nut consumption and growing interest in premium health foods,” Mr Adams said.
“This award is recognition of our grower shareholders who grow the finest quality macadamias in the world, and to our dedicated staff who work tirelessly to process, pack, and sell our products right across the globe.”
The Marquis Group was established in 1983, and is Australia’s largest macadamia grower, processor, and marketer, supplying to food manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers in more than 45 countries worldwide.
It has more than 40 years of industry experience, two processing facilities, and more than 250 supplying growers and shareholders, representing 34 per cent of Australia’s macadamia harvest.
