More than two decades of senior management experience in the agriculture industry will join Marquis Macadamias through the appointment of their new CEO Ben Adams.

Mr Adams will replace Larry McHugh who first joined the Macadamia Processing Company in 1992, which would become the Marquis Group.

Mr Adams is highly qualified after serving as general manager of Green and Gold Macadamias Australia, and as director for its associated marketing organisation.

He brings an international perspective to the role, with previous experience in key management positions for Avanta Seeds in the United States and Mexico.

Educated at Toowoomba Grammar with a Bachelor of Applied Science and Rural Management from the University of Queensland, Mr Adams is a tried and true Queenslander.

He has already started meeting with the Marquis teams in Bundaberg and at other Maquis locations.

The Bundaberg location is one of four sites which contributes to the massive Marquis Macadamia production rate, contributing more than 1000 tonnes a week to the market.

Marquis Macadamia is the world’s largest supplier of macadamias, with the Bundaberg orchards and processing facilities just one of four Marquis Macadamia sites world wide.

“I am keen to meet with shareholders and suppliers to ensure we are listening to their concerns and supporting them through these challenging times,” Mr Adams said.

As a 100 per cent grower-owned company, Mr Adams has said his key focus would be developing long term strategies for improving operations efficiency.

Chairman and board director of Marquis Macadamias Australia, Clayton Mattiazzi, said he was excited to see Mr Adams join the team.

“Ben has the full support of the Board to drive the long-term development strategy for Marquis Macadamias to create the most efficient processing operation to maximise the benefits to our growers, shareholders, partners, and staff,” Mr Mattiazzi said.

“Based on the strong foundations established over many years by former CEO Larry McHugh, Ben will look to drive productivity and innovation in these challenging times for the macadamia industry.”
