Guest speaker and Greensill Farming CEO Damien Botha congratulated the students on their academic achievements and what it meant for the region’s future.
“You are all part of the exciting future of our region, state, country and I’ve no doubt many of you will experience success internationally,” Mr Botha said.
“Be bold though, don’t take a backward step when opportunities come your way.
“Embrace change and commit with passion in whatever you may do.”
Halfway through the ceremony, CQUniversity alumnus and Melbourne Ska Orchestra vocalist Ruby Mills gave a moving rendition of John Mayer’s ‘Waiting on the world to change’.
In a time-honoured tradition for the university, CQUniversity Chancellor Graeme Innes asked all graduates to turn their tassel from the right to the left of their mortarboard, marking the end of the ceremony and their transition to qualified experts and professionals in their chosen fields before filing out of the Multiplex main hall to the applause of academic staff, family and friends.
