Bundaberg beaches will not only host the bright summer sun in the new year, they will also host the council’s latest community initiative - Summer Sundays.
Live music festivals will be backed by local market stalls across four local beaches throughout January with the event free to locals and tourists alike.
Four of the region’s main beaches Elliott Heads, Bargara, Burnett Heads and Moore Park Beach will host their own concert, with locals capitalising on the sun and surf.
Summer Sundays will feature music from headliners including Kyle Lionheart, Bondi Cigars, Steph Strings and Felipe Baldomir backed by musicians such as Meleane Havea, Change Po Ching, Abby Skye and Harii Bandhu.
Mayor Jack Dempsey said the region’s idyllic beaches were the perfect background for a relaxed live music initiative.
“Our foreshores are gems in our community and what better way to utilise them than by bringing people together through music,” he said.

Arts, Culture and Events councillor John Learmonth also backed the initiative and the sense of community Summer Sundays hopes to foster.
