A FAMILY is shattered their newest addition, a baby pig, is missing just a week after they brought her home.

Wildlife carer Tia Johnston said Peppa was only a week old when she went missing from the family's yard on Thursday.

"(The kids) just cried and asked where she went," Ms Johnston said.

She is concerned for her piglet's well-being as a strict powdered milk diet is required for a piglet of such a young age.

"There is a lot of things that you have to give a piglet that doesn't have it's mother that it should be getting nutrients from," she said.

"If you don't give that to them, they could possibly have a stunted growth or could die."

She said Peppa usually followed her around the property but when she looked for the piglet, she was gone.

The family has put a sign outside their home that reads 'Missing pig, please return to trailer'.

It is thought that someone has picked Peppa up from the side of the road and taken her home.

Ms Johnston asked that the community keeps an eye out for a white piglet and for her baby to be returned if someone has found her and taken her home.

"We miss her," Ms Johnston said.

Reports have been made to police regarding the incident.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police on 4153 9111 or Tia on 0401 182 223.
