Dennis Charles Neller appears on charges related to death of Brayden Roy

A grieving mum held a photo of her late son in her hands as court proceedings started for the man charged with causing a fatal road accident that claimed the 21-year-old’s life.

There were emotional scenes as Brayden Roy’s family sat in the public gallery of the magistrates court to come face-to-face with the man who allegedly caused the crash that claimed the 21-year-old motorcyclist’s life.

Dennis Charles Neller, 81, was charged with one count of dangerously operate or interfere with the operation of a vehicle causing death of grievous bodily harm following the crash at Maroondan in April.

Mr Roy’s family sat at the back of the Bundaberg Magistrates Court courtroom, with his mother holding a picture of her son with the motorcycle he was riding at the time of the crash.

Mr Neller’s lawyer, Matt Messenger, said he only recently received instructions from his client and sought an adjournment to allow more time to consult with him.

Magistrate John McInnes adjourned until July 18.

Mr Neller, from Horse Camp, was released from the courthouse on bail.

No plea has been recorded.
