A local business powerhouse couple has opened thier third business in a fast-growing area of Bundaberg.
Bianca Petersen, a familiar face in the area, has traded her career in childcare management to focus on running family-owned businesses, including brand new grab-and-go cafe, Sip it Silly, on Queen St.
Sip it Silly specialises in pre-made meals, snacks, and smoothies, catering to busy families and workers.
Ms Petersen’s vision for the cafe comes from her love for food and community.
“A few years ago, I started a food trailer called Hot Diggity Dog,” she said.
“After enjoying that so much, it was time to make my dream bigger and turn it into a store.”
The Petersen and McKay family’s strong ties to North Bundaberg have shaped their entrepreneurial journey.
“North Bundaberg has a very special place in my heart as this is where I grew up,” Ms Petersen said.
She and her partner Joe McKay also own The Laundry Lounge Bundaberg, and Ask Joe Sheds.
“We are both very driven people and together we are hitting all of our goals. We now have three businesses and really enjoy connecting with the community,” she said.
“Feedback is a very important part of life and we are always looking at ways to learn, grow and reflect as a team.”
Community response to Sip it Silly has been overwhelmingly positive.
“We have had an overwhelming amount of people coming to support us. It is great to already see some regulars and friendly faces,” Bianca said.
Ms Petersen is committed to fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
“As a business owner, I am super proud of the team we have after finding it so hard to find them,” she said.
Looking ahead, Ms Petersen plans to expand the menu with evening offerings like Shake ‘n’ Dog nights, American burgers, and loaded fries.
“Sip it Silly sources produce locally and supports small businesses where we can in the Bundaberg region,” she said.
Sip it Silly is open seven days a week from 5:30am to 2pm.
