Planning her dream wedding was supposed to be fun and exciting for Bundaberg mum Samantha Sergiacomi, but when she realised there was no way she could source the materials for her vision without breaking the bank she was left with no choice but to do it herself.

That decision has been the driving force behind Bundaberg’s new event decoration business, Bold and Moody, which brings a unique twist to celebrations.

A self-proclaimed maximalist, Mrs Sergiacomi knew she wanted a dark, rich and moody vibe to the wedding of her dreams, but when she struggled to source even the most basic of materials such as navy table cloths and was given a more than $25,000 quote on the flowers alone, she made a choice.

She began sourcing everything herself, going through dozens of cans of spray paint to ensure everything was the exact tone of gold, and building her bouquets and floral arrangements by hand.

She was left with an incredible wedding, a lot of decorations and knowledge of a key gap in the event decoration industry.

“We had everything left over, and there is obviously a gap there and I wanted to jump in and fill that,” she said.

“I recently did a gothic wedding, and she was in the same boat, people had minimal things to be able to accommodate her wedding.”

Since repurposing her original wedding material for an entirely new vibe of gothic romanticism, Mrs Sergiacomi has gone on to decorate a tropical themed wedding and an Indian baby shower, showing her range and the desire for maximal event decorations in the region.

“I am just really looking to fill the space in Bundaberg and surrounds, and bringing a modern touch to decorating,” she said.

“It means that I can help people have their dream wedding without making sacrifices because the availability isn’t there.”

With more than 10 years of experience in the seamstress and design industry, Mrs Sergiacomi said she brings an attention to detail and a willingness to try anything to the business.

“I have always said ‘I can be good at anything I am willing to try and I am willing to try anything’,” she said.

“I am very keen on the small details.”

The business services from Gladstone to the Sunshine Coast, with plans to expand to offer corporate events, formals as well as a showroom.
