Libraries might be considered part of the furniture, but not for one regional school that is seeking permission to build one.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Childers has unveiled plans for a development project aimed at significantly upgrading its facilities.

The project will see the construction of a resource centre and library, designed in collaboration with Gibson Architects.

The modern facility will be developed in two phases: the first stage will include a smaller building with a covered external court area, and the second stage will expand this structure to incorporate the external court fully.

As part of the Bundaberg Regional Council planning scheme 2015 and located within the community facilities zone, this development is crucial for the school’s growth.

The project requires an impact assessment and will undergo a public notification period of 30 business days.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School has a rich history of serving the Childers community, and this development marks a significant step forward.

The school, which caters to students from Prep to year 6, will see its facilities upgraded to better meet the needs of its growing student body.

The proposed development is expected to receive approval, subject to reasonable and relevant conditions.
