Lumberjack Grill is about to embark on a new chapter, opening its new permanent location in Bundaberg.

Founded by Kirsty Liversidge and Raj Bharti, the business has evolved from a dream into a vibrant reality.

Raj, a chef with 17 years of experience in a diverse range of cuisines, initially dreamed of creating a food truck.

After months of dedication, he and Kirsty launched their food truck in South West Rocks, NSW, in October 2021.

For two years, they catered to a variety of events, including weddings, birthdays, and festivals.

Their community involvement extended to raising money for charity.

“We volunteered and fed flood victims, we raised money for some really good causes,” Kirsty said.

The success of their food truck led them to open a fully licensed restaurant on the Macleay River in Gladstone, NSW.

However, the demands of running both the food truck and the restaurant while raising two young children proved challenging.

As a result, they decided to sell the restaurant and relocate to Bundaberg.

At the end of 2023, they sold the original food truck and Raj constructed a new trailer, ready to relaunch in Bundaberg.

They moved to the city in February 2024 and began their new venture with the fresh trailer.

“Finding any decent locations to park the trailer through the council was becoming a bit of a nightmare, so we sold the trailer and we decided to find a permanent location to call home for Lumberjack Grill,” Kirsty said.

Lumberjack Grill will open its doors at Southside Corner Shop 1, 46 Maryborough St, Bundaberg South, on August 30, 2024, if all goes as planned.

Currently in the fitout stages, Kirsty and Raj are eagerly preparing to welcome the Bundaberg community.

Their little helpers, their two daughters, have been part of this journey, adding an extra layer of family warmth to their enterprise.

The grand opening will feature free burgers to celebrate their new beginning.

“We plan to give away some free burgers on opening day, and we look forward to welcoming people into our little space that we have put lots of hard work into!”
