Bundaberg Regional Council has unveiled a raft of new fees for animal registrations and waste disposal for the 2025/2026 financial year, with significant increases across various categories.
Dog registration fees will rise, with desexed and microchipped dogs to cost $52, up from $50 in 2024/2025.
Other categories will have bigger rises, including the registration of non-desexed dogs with no microchip, which will cost another $7, at $177.
The most notable hike is in the registration of declared dangerous dogs, which will now cost $813.79 to register, an increase of $29.79 from the previous year.
Similarly, the fee for declared restricted breed dogs (currently prohibited) has risen by $30 to $815.
Pensioner pet owners will also pay more, with the registration of a non-desexed and non-microchipped dog to cost $71, up from $68.
In positive news, the registration for certified guide and hearing dogs remains unchanged, continuing to be free of charge.
Waste disposal fees have also increased across several categories.
For domestic general waste, the minimum fee for a 240L bin will rise by $1 to $14, larger vehicles, such as vans, utilities, and trailers under 4T GVM, will be charged $1 more, with fees now set at $24.
The most significant change in waste disposal fees applies to domestic vehicles with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) over 4T. These vehicles will now pay $213, up from $195.
For domestic green waste, a similar $1 increase applies across most categories, but larger vehicles will face a higher increase, with a $5 rise to $105 for domestic vehicles over 4T GVM.
Commercial waste fees are also affected, with general waste fees rising by $16. The new fee for general waste will be $346, up from $330 in the previous year. Asbestos disposal charges remain the same, with fees for non-friable asbestos, asbestos-contaminated soil (levy inclusive), and asbestos-contaminated soil (levy exempt) unchanged.
