A veteran with nearly 20 years’ experience in the industry who has helped countless families in their kids’ early years has won the top gong in a Queensland-wide vote for best childcare educator.
Bundaberg childcare educator Rebecca Bell, of Acorn Child Care Bundaberg, said she was humbled and proud to think that people took the time to vote for her.
This publication held a Queensland-wide, reader-led vote for the best childcare educator in the state.
Ms Bell, better known as Miss Bec to her students, won the vote, Quona Mooney of Kookaburra Child Care Centre was voted into second place and Ashton Pohlmann of C&K Queensbeach was voted into third place.
“A lot of families still remember what I have done years ago for their children, I’m very proud,” Ms Bell said.
The childcare educator holds a certificate three, a diploma and a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood with 18 years’ experience as an early learning teacher.
“I actually got into childcare after I got my daughter (was born) in 2005, I did family daycare to begin with, then I did my certificate three, then my diploma, and I have been a kindy teacher for about four years,” Ms Bell said.
“After working in childcare for some few years, I was given the opportunity to study my Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood to become an early learning teacher.”
The 46 year-old said there was no judgement working with children.
“They love everybody no matter who they are, what they look like and that it’s so much fun,” Ms Bell said.
“I love spending time with children, watching them learn, they’re always so honest and happy, they’re always so keen to learn, grow and achieve their potential.”
