A Whitsundays mother-to-be has claimed her pregnancy “made [her] change” despite facing multiple charges for taking part in a spree of break and enters she continued to do while on bail.

Amber Josephine Flack faced Bowen Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where the court heard a list of various break and enters she took part in from August last year.

The spree had started on August 9, when she broke into a house with a male person and stole various items, including a Commonwealth bank card she then used on six different occasions in Bowen for a total sum of $1352.

On August 22, Flack was at the Mackay Base Hospital emergency department, and started to yell at staff as well as made threats which led to staff escorting her out of the hospital grounds.

The court heard Flack had then walked towards a car in the carpark, damaged it and was later taken to the watchhouse.

“The bail order made no difference to you, you just carried on as usual,” Mr Kennedy told Flack before continuing to list her offences.

On September 14, she broke into another house where she stole foreign currency, food and a mobility device and only weeks later on September 24 and 25, she broke into the premises of a Pacific Petroleum station on two occasions, where her co-offenders had stolen various items and caused damage to the property.

Flack was also charged with drug related charges, fails to appear, driving unlicensed or failing to stop her vehicle when asked by police.

“You say you’ve changed that the pregnancy has caused you to rethink. How can I be sure you’ve changed?” Mr Kennedy asked Flack before referring to her criminal history.

He listed different convictions for breaches of bail, drug offences, dangerous driving, serious assault of a police officer, stealing, assault occasioning bodily harm and unlawful use of motor vehicles.

Flack pleaded guilty to a set of 16 charges in front of the Bowen Magistrates Court.

She was sentenced to different concurrent periods of imprisonment with the longest one being 24 months, and her first eligibility for parole on October 13.

She was also disqualified from driving for a period of six months.
