A woman has been found dead in a Logan Reserve home after her daughter was locked out of the house in her pyjamas for six hours, prompting concerned neighbours to call police.
Officers were called to an address on Pierro Place at about 4.45pm on Friday to check on the welfare of the woman in her 30s.
She was located unresponsive inside.
A crime scene was established with investigations at the scene continuing into Saturday night.
The neighbour who called police said she raised the alarm after the woman’s daughter told her she had been locked out of her house and had not seen her mum for six hours.
The neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said she had left home at about 10am while her and the deceased woman’s daughters played under the care of another resident.
“I got back at 4 o’clock and her daughter, she was worried about her mum, she hadn’t seen her all day, and said her mum’s boyfriend had gone to the servo and was meant to be back by then,” the woman said.
She said the deceased woman’s daughter told her the man had left that morning leaving the young girl locked outside in her pyjamas.
“She couldn’t get back into her house. I was her friend. I was concerned for her,” she said.
“He had given her a ring but he never acknowledged us or said hello.
“Around the time they got together she got really closed off.”
The neighbour said she was devastated at losing her friend who she felt deeply connected to.
“I never get to talk to my friend again,” she said.
“I think about her asking me to look after her daughter often and realise she was trying to protect her.”
On Sunday morning, Pierro Place residents expressed their shock at the sudden death.
A couple, who wished to remain anonymous, said it was a quiet street where kids often played outside together.
They were not familiar with the deceased woman, but said they often saw her young daughter.
Another resident, who also wished to remain anonymous, said their son was friends with the girl.
“She would often play out the front of our house, my son even went over to her house to use the trampoline,” they said.
They said seeing the emergency vehicles and hearing what had happened came as a shock.
“It is a very family-friendly street and something like this happening so close to Christmas is very sad,” they said.
None of the residents said they saw or heard anything unusual on Friday.
