DRIVER frustration on the Warrego Hwy will soon be eased thanks to a $68 million project to build three overtaking lanes between Jondaryan and Dalby.

The overtaking lanes, valued at $10 million, are being built under the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program, funded by the Federal Government.

Locations will be westbound at Malu, 50km west of Toowoomba, westbound at Auchmar, 62km west of Toowoomba and eastbound at Auchmar, 64km west of Toowoomba.

Member for Toowoomba South John McVeigh said the work would coincide with Operation Queenslander works which were reconstructing 32km of flood-damaged sections of the highway.

The works will require lane closures, side tracks, traffic controllers and temporary speed reductions and may extend over 24 hours, six days a week to limit disruptions to traffic.

The project will be delivered by Seymour White on behalf of TMR.

The work begins this month and will be finished by early 2014, weather permitting.
