UPDATE: Police have identified the man killed in a crash on the outskirts of Dalby Tuesday morning as Paul Craig Churchill.
Investigations into the crash are continuing, but early indications suggest the Ford utility Mr Churchill, 42, was travelling in was hit by a truck on the Warrego Hwy about 5.50am.
The force of the collision propelled the utility into the oncoming lane of traffic, where it was hit by a second truck.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
TUESDAY 1PM: A 42-year-old Tara man has been killed in a three-vehicle crash on the outskirts of Dalby this morning.
The Falcon utility the man was driving appears to have been rear ended by a truck as it turned right off of the Warrego Hwy, 3km north-west of Dalby.
The impact of the truck pushed the ute it into the opposite lane, where it was hit on the front passenger side by a second truck travelling east.
The passenger side door of the utility was ripped off and the vehicle was badly mangled.
Emergency services attended the scene and closed off the highway from Watt St to Black St.
The crash occurred in an 80km zone.
Dalby Police Sergeant Brett Hunter said police were investigating the cause of the crash.
The two truck drivers were shaken but not seriously injured.
10.30AM: The Warrego Hwy at Dalby has reopened with the Forensic Crash Unit having completed its investigation into a crash that killed a 42-year-old Tara man.
The crash occurred at 5.50am today, 3km north-west of Dalby.
9.30AM: The Warrego Highway remains closed in both directions 3km north-west of Dalby as police investigate this morning's fatal car crash.
Police expect the highway to remain closed until at least 10.15am.

8AM: A motorist has been killed after the car they were driving collided with a truck on the Warrego Hwy near Dalby this morning.
The crash occurred about 6am north-west of Dalby. Emergency services are still on scene.
The highway is closed in both directions. Diversions are in place.
Meanwhile, a 52-year-old man was killed last night when the car he was driving left the D'Aguilar Hwy and hit a tree.
The crash occurred at Harlin between 10pm - 11.15pm.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
