KEEN shopper Steph Ferguson's secret to a successful Boxing Day shop is one word: patience.
"It's something I have to tell my mum even in the lead up to Christmas too," she said.
"People enter shopping centres already stressed and it doesn't make it a pleasant experience."
Ms Ferguson's advice for this year's Boxing Day sales was to keep the Christmas spirit alive and well, not entering the centre as a force to be reckoned with.
Grand Central manager Shaine Beveridge said the centre was prepared for a busy day.
"The sale period in the lead-up to Christmas has been a great success and early indications from our retailers point to this year's post-Christmas sales being as popular as ever," Mr Beveridge said.
Centre management had worked hard in the lead up to Christmas and Boxing Day to ensure shopping at Grand Central was a smooth experience.
"A number of measures have been taken to make access and parking as convenient as possible, including police and civilian traffic controllers," Mr Beveridge said.
Dotti sales assistants Shairra Burwood and Madeleine Toleman were keeping tight-lipped about their sales today which they said needed to be seen to be believed.
"Let's just say Dotti knows how to do a sale," Ms Burwood said.
"Come in for the freshest fashions and colours for the season at wicked prices, She said.
Tamara Burton, 16, couldn't help but shop for her nephew Zeke this Boxing Day.
She already spoilt him this Christmas and planned to treat him again today.
It will be Ms Burton's first time shopping on Boxing Day.
National Australia Bank research predicted the shopping peak would hit about 1pm across Australia, with the peak transaction rate hitting 310 per second and more than 11.6 million transactions processed.
Grand Central opens at 9am today and closes at 5.30pm.
