A new pre-school is set to rise from the wreckage of its old site as next steps for an aviation-themed facility are revealed.

The 50-year-old Parap Pre-School building has almost been demolished by NTEX and Rossi Architects has revealed the bold design for the new school, harking back to the site’s origins.

Education Minister Mark Monaghan said 66 children would be able start their learning journeys in the new school when it opens its doors in 2026.

When the government announced the school’s $10 million revamp in 2022, the project’s grand opening was scheduled for 2025.

Mr Monaghan said the pre-school – and other early learning facilities like it – would play a key role in giving young Territorians a strong future.

“The data says that by the age of five, 90 per cent of a child’s brain has developed,” he said.

“Therefore, we need to take advantage of ensuring that… we give them the experiences to enable them to grow and thrive in future educational establishments.”

The pre-school’s outdoor area includes an undercover playground on soft rubber flooring, vegetable gardens, wall murals, water features and greenery spread across the entire play area.
