Premier Steven Miles’ move to legislate Queensland’s ambitious 75 per cent emissions reduction target has also put pressure on the Opposition to outline its climate policies.

Ahead of the October state election, Mr Miles introduced the Clean Economy Jobs Bill, the first by his government, to legislate an emissions reduction target of 75 per cent on 2005 levels by 2035.

The Premier said the Bill would help make Queensland a world leader in the uptake of clean energy and address the intensifying natural disasters battering the state.

“As the state’s premier, I think it is important to protect not just my children’s future, but also all future Queenslanders,” he said.

Mr Miles said the Bill would ensure the jobs of workers transitioning to renewable energy projects would be protected and help secure ongoing global investment in our manufacturing, agriculture, and resources industries.

Climate Council Head of Advocacy Jennifer Rayner said placing the agenda into law provided crucial confidence for businesses to invest in the energy transition.

However readers aren’t yet convinced.

Some claimed it was merely a smoke and mirrors tactic when there are more pressing issues.

Tackling the increasingly violent young criminals is way more important to most Queenslanders than the airy fairy emissions reduction target.....but of course youth crime is ‘a complex issue’ and not easily dealt with the famous ALP thought bubbles. Exactly why won’t Miles make needed changes to the wording of the youth crime laws?? This is the question on most peoples lips?

Who really cares what Al Gore thinks. He is only in it for the money. As for the 75% reduction, it is not achievable and at no time have I seen anyone publish total life costs for all this new green technology. Last I saw was wind turbine blades being buried because they take a 1000 years to break down, Lithium batteries being buried because they take a 1000 years to break down, the cost of manufacturing all these new green solutions still require the materials and manufacturing processes they want to get rid off. About time these people including the Governments started telling the truth.

Why are the governments in this country trying to bankrupt us for 1.1% emission’s on the global scale. 1.1% that is all Australia is and yet we seem to need to destroy habitats of endangered species, wipe-out swathes of vegetation and trees for wind turbines and solar panels that were home to a whole diversity of animal and bird life – not to mention bees which we need to pollinate a lot of our native plants.

So our Premier believes that he can alter the course of the Earth around the Sun change wind directions alter sub tropical or tropical climates simply by spending $trillions on wind turbines and solar panels and forcing us to drive electric vehicles. If so his party seriously needs to be removed by October at the latest.
