OUR SAY: I admire the way Roger Federer conducts himself on and off the tennis court.
Rod Laver and Ken Rosewell - both considered somewhat hot tempered in their day - also set a standard that is sadly missing in many current players.
Bernard Tomic badly needs to follow their example.
Put simply, Tomic is a disgrace to Australian sport.
It is no wonder he had been labelled a spoiled brat and arrogant tool for his sarcastic comments after failing to qualify for the Australian Open.
The world No.142 lashed the media and boasted about his wealth just minutes after his loss to little-known Italian Lorenzo Sonego on Sunday.
Retired world No. 1 Andy Roddick said the 25-year-old's behaviour was "self inflicted" and disappointed tennis fans blasted him as being undeserving and an embarrassment to Australia.
It's not the image any parent would want their children to copy.
I know how my dad and his generation of tennis players would respond to Tomic's petulance. It would involve a size 11 boot and Tomic's posterior.
