Israeli embassy murders reveal true activist intentions

Left-wing activists were once so sensitive and delicate they wanted trigger warnings attached to everything and everyone, but now those same snowflakes have become pro-Hamas cheerleaders who revel in the butchery of their leaders and foot soldiers, writes Tim Blair.

‘Wake up call’: Friend of murdered Jewish diplomat warns of growing hate

You’ll recall that the younger commie cohort pretended a few years ago to have become so pitifully delicate that even mildly opposing viewpoints appeared to them as terrifying dangers.

That’s why these gossamer-weight daisy babies required trigger warnings ahead of any troublesome phrases in their university texts. That’s why they retreated to “safe spaces” with infant-level comforts such as colouring books and bubbles whenever they felt threatened.

That’s why they’d burst into tears of anguish if someone was misgendered. Dear God, the cruelty! They were just so incredibly, impressively sensitive.

And then October 7 happened and all of these fragile souls immediately identified with the murderers.

Given the choice between innocent youngsters at a music festival and the bestial rapists who butchered them, they sided with the butchers.

In Sydney and across Australia – indeed, throughout the Western world – university campuses were quickly polluted by pro-Hamas solidarity marches, speaking events and campsites.

Turns out these kids didn’t want safe spaces after all. What they really wanted was scores of dead Jewish bodies, such as were left at the Nova music event by Hamas degenerates.

Former Israeli foreign minister Abba Eban once said of Palestinians that they “never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity”. Neither do their Western fans, who following the cowardly murders of Israeli embassy staffers Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky in Washington DC last week had the chance yet again to denounce senseless and deadly violence.

Instead, they revelled in it. As The Australian reported: “The assassination of two Israeli diplomats outside a Jewish museum in Washington has been met with a torrent of celebratory and incendiary responses from high-profile Australian pro-Palestinian activists.”

A number of those characters are now too old and unattractive to be invited to any university tent cities, but they’re still dumb at heart – if any hearts they have.

As the Council of Australian Jewry’s Alex Ryvchin put it: “To read the accounts of a young woman shot at close range and crawling for her life before being shot again multiple times and responding with barely concealed joy reveals a depravity that is difficult to comprehend.”

Just as difficult to process is the cover given to gutless killers such as Washington assassin Elias Rodriguez by the so-called ‘quality’ press, led by the New York Times.

Just get a load of this, published last Friday: “The pro-Palestinian movement that burst into the public consciousness after the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct 7, 2023, has deep roots and has gone through multiple transformations. But it has long included a wide spectrum of activists, with a variety of views on the role violent resistance should play in achieving a Palestinian state.”

So October 7 just helped the movement “burst into public consciousness”, did it? Kind of like Taylor Swift’s first top-selling single, or the latest fad diet. And don’t you just adore that line about a “variety of views” being held by activists on “the role violent resistance should play”.

Yep. Some of them believe children should be knifed to death. Others reckon burning is the way to go; a barbed-wire cage being optional.

And none of these activists have anything at all to say about freeing any Israelis still held captive by Hamas in their UN-funded subterranean horror pits. While we’re talking about anti-Israel activists, by the way, Iran’s state-run newspaper on Saturday referred to “our dear brother Elias Rodriguez, who sent two Zionist wild animals in Washington to hell with a bullet”.

Nice crowd our activist kids are running with. They fit right into a continuum from Hitler to Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei.

Here’s another line from that NYT piece, which goes to the point above about left-wing activists switching from gentle to ghoulish, from vanilla Sesame Street to poisonous Manson Family: “The contradiction inherent in a nonviolent protest movement that sometimes backs armed struggle for Palestinian freedom has long vexed public safety authorities and college administration officials.”

There’s no need to be vexed. This is no inherent contradiction. What we see here is simple evidence of deceit.

When those young leftists claimed to need safe spaces, trigger warnings and other indulgent accommodations, they were lying. Some lied for the purpose of gaining attention. Others, the more sinister among them, lied as a means of establishing control.

After all, if you can bully entire institutions into installing virtual kindergartens for chronological adults, you can bully them into any kind of crazy behaviours.

Such as providing material support and sanctuary for those who endorse a modern-day Nazi movement.
