AN interesting development about the Second Range Crossing came to light yesterday.
It seems that not all the land required to build the bypass is controlled by the government.
Several large parcels of land will need to be purchased to ensure the new design can be achieved.
That design now includes a 30-metre cutting at the top of the Range as an alternative to the tunnel solution which was initially floated.
The design change means neither the state nor federal government owns the corridor of land where the cutting is to go.
That appears to be good news for Toowoomba developer Leon Carlile who grabbed the corridor of land on the New England Highway at Mount Kynoch late last year.
Mr Carlile confirmed he was in talks with the government about his newly acquired corridor of land. He seems keen to reach an amicable agreement.
Hopefully, this will not be a stumbling block for the project.
