$240 steak an example of Toowoomba leading the way

I like a good steak and my ever expanding girth is evidence of that.

OUR SAY: I like a good steak and my ever expanding girth is evidence of that.

But I reckon paying $240 for one might be pushing the boundaries.

But many do not share my economic situation - obviously.

A feedlot on the Darling Downs is producing what must be Australia's premium steak.

A 400g hunk of Kiwami wagyu steak costing $240, can be ordered at a new Gold Coast fine dining restaurant Nineteen at The Star.

The restaurant is on the 19th floor of the new Darling at The Star and is the first and only restaurant in Australia to offer Kiwami beef.

The beef comes from Stockyard Beef and is sourced from pure-bred wagyu cattle fed at the Kerwee feedlot at Jondaryan.

Plenty of thought goes into the beef. The animals are fattened for 400-days on specially designed rations.

Kiwami is the Japanese word for exclusive and this beef can only be found in a selection of five-star restaurants throughout the world.

It's yet another example of Toowoomba and the Darling Downs leading the way once again.

And at $240 a steak, we look to be the top of the foodie ladder.
