A man will be sent back to Western Australia to face historic alleged child abuse offences after he was found living in the Northern Territory.
NT Police in a statement alleged the offending took place in Western Australia in 2014.
They said the man, aged 53, skipped an appearance in the Perth Magistrates Court in 2018 before “travelling” to the Northern Territory.
The man was found in Casuarina on January 29 and was arrested by Northern Territory Police Sex Crimes Unit officers.
“Western Australia Police are currently in the process of extraditing him back to Perth,” an NT Police spokesperson said.
“Northern Territory Police are committed to working with other law enforcement agencies to ensure offenders are held accountable for their actions, regardless of where they attempt to evade responsibility.”
Those who suspect there is a child in danger are asked to make a report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or through the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation at www.accce.gov.au/report
